When your car insurance expires, insurers sometimes offer automatic renewals on your policy. This can be convenient as it means you’ll always have cover in place, but it can also mean you miss out on potentially better deals. You can tell your provider to opt you out of automatic renewal. If you tell us your insurance renewal date, we’ll automatically send you a reminder that your insurance is due for renewal 30 days before it auto renews.
You should always compare car insurance quotes before renewing with your current provider – it's a quick and easy way to find affordable cover for your car.

What type of cover do I need?
▾
Everyone in the UK who owns or operates a vehicle on the road is legally required to have insurance cover. However, the type of cover you need depends on the level of cover you need. There are three types to choose from:
1. Third-party only: The minimum legal requirement to drive on UK roads, this only covers you for damage done to a third party, their vehicle or their property: your car, passengers and belongings would not be covered.
2. Third-party, fire and theft: The next level up; third-party, fire and theft also offers cover for your car – but only if it’s stolen or damaged in a fire or explosion.
3. Fully comprehensive: The maximum level of cover you can take out; fully comprehensive car insurance adds a range of extra cover for your vehicle.
