Council chooses PayByPhone to provide cashless parking across the borough
LONDON, UK, 6 March 2019 – PayByPhone, the global leader in mobile parking payments, today announced that it will replace RingGo as the exclusive cashless parking provider for the London Borough of Harrow as of 1 April 2019. From this date, drivers will be able to use PayByPhone’s services to pay for parking at 90 key locations across the borough, covering a total of 3,506 on- and off-street parking spaces.
PayByPhone users can use the parking services for free and can choose to receive free of charge text message reminders before a parking session expires and have the ability to extend theirparking sessions remotely in accordance to the car parks terms and conditions, with the extend-from-anywhere feature. This feature is now also available to users with an Apple Watch using watchOS4.0, allowing parking to be extended directly from the watch. For those who prefer to use cash, PayByPhone also offer parking by PayPoint, allowing drivers to pay in a nearby shop where the service is available, and this will enable the council to begin reducing the number of pay-and-display machines across the Borough.
Cllr Varsha Parmar, Harrow Council’s cabinet member for environment says:“This is just another way that we’re modernizing what we do at Harrow Council to save money and make life easier for our residents. No more fiddling about with documents, fishing for loose change or rushing back to top up the meter – you can take care of it all on your phone from now on.”
In addition to the cashless parking and extend-from-anywhere benefits, PayByPhone users can now also use the recently launched Maps and the Nearby Parking feature. The Maps feature allows drivers to locate parking before they leave for their destination and pin their vehicle location onto the map once they have parked, and the Nearby Parking feature instantly provides drivers with the closest PayByPhone parking location number upon their arrival.
Hannah Fuller, Operations Director for PayByPhone UK, says: “Weare very excited to launch PayByPhone in the London Borough of Harrow. Mobile parking payments have many advantages to the individual and to the local authority. Not only does it make the parking experience more hassle-free, but it also greatly reduces vandalism and the cost of maintaining the pay and display machines.”
PayByPhone encourages drivers to download the app now, so they are ready to use the new service from the minute we go live. Registration is very simple and takes less than 30 seconds.
For residents and businesses using a parking permit, they will soon be able to get a virtual permit, stepping away from the printed permit. This avoids costly printing, postage costs for the council and it will mean that the residents will not risk being issued with a penalty charge notice if the permit becomes dislodged.
The PayByPhone services are already available in nearby Barnet and Hertsmere, and also in Ealing from 1 April, making it even easier for drivers commuting between locations. For a full list of areas where PayByPhone is available, and to start using it today, download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store or visit the PayByPhone website paybyphone.co.uk.
