Following on from the recent launch with Chelmsford City Council, PayByPhone has agreed new long term contracts with Aylesbury Vale District Council and St Albans City & District Council. The popular cashless parking service is now available in 11 council operated pay-and-display car parks in Aylesbury, Buckingham, Wendover and Winslow, and 30 on street locations, and two car parks in St Albans.
12 September 2013 — PayByPhone is becoming increasingly in demand from councils situated along the London Commuter Belt. In addition to long-standing contracts with councils in Kent, Surrey and West Sussex, recent launches in Essex, North Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire have strengthened the PayByPhone network in these areas significantly.
Robin Bevan, Commercial CEO at PayByPhone said “With more than 2.8 million registered customers in London, it makes sense that those driving to London for work and using PayByPhone when parking in the city will welcome the opportunity to use the service in their home town. Even those customers who park up and catch the train into London find that PayByPhone is a quicker and more convenient way to pay to park - particularly if they have to rush for the train!”
Both Aylesbury Vale and St Albans councils have launched PayByPhone as part of a wider move to improve services for local motorists. Councillor Brian Roberts, Cabinet Member for Civic Amenities at Aylesbury Vale District Council, said: “Offering people the choice of paying to park using PayByPhone is a great alternative to paying with coins and makes it much easier for people to extend their stay.”
Councillor Beric Read, Portfolio Holder for Community Engagement and Localism for St Albans City and District Council, is also impressed with the customer-friendliness of the PayByPhone system and the benefits it can bring to the local parking community. He said: “The new PayByPhone service is part of a wider strategy to improve customer service in relation to our parking services. It also brings us in line with many other areas around the country operating PayByPhone parking schemes.”
Part of the PayPoint group of companies, PayByPhone is the UK’s leading phone parking specialist, offering the widest and most innovative range of phone parking payments, including NFC parking, QR codes, smartphone apps and cash payments in local PayPoint shops.
