A new one-touch parking payment experience for drivers


17 May, 2018, United Kingdom --- PayByPhone, the world’s leading mobile parking payment provider, announced today its extension of Apple Pay and Google Pay to Cheltenham Borough Council.

Users have the freedom to select from multiple payment options, but now, for ease, within select UK cities like Cheltenham, the PayByPhone app will automatically default to Apple Pay or Google Pay if the user’s device is already set up to make payments using the service. 

For those currently without Apple Pay, set up is easy and very intuitive. Users can follow instructions in their mobile phone settings and be up and running in minutes. Drivers can then choose Apple Pay as a default form of payment within the PayByPhone app. And using Apple pay is secure - credit or debit card details are not stored on the user’s device or on Apple servers.  Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on the mobile device. Each transaction is then authorised with a one-time unique dynamic security code.

The PayByPhone app also supports Google Pay, Google’s new payment app for Android devices, which combines the previous Android Pay and Google Wallet. Similar to its iOS counterpart, Google Pay provides a simple, secure way to complete payments, by encrypting credit card numbers.
