Drivers Also Now Enjoy an Enhanced App Experience
BOURNEMOUTH, UK (18 April, 2018) --- As of today, the mobile parking payment app PayByPhone, has removed its service charge across 72 Bournemouth Borough Council car parks and on-street locations. The removal of the previous 10p transaction charge follows the release of the highly anticipated Nearby Locations feature, another exciting upgrade to the service that improves the parking experience for residents and visitors.
With text message reminders that send before your time expires and the ability to extend a parking session from anywhere, the PayByPhone app lets drivers pay for parking in seconds. The latest Nearby Locations feature is an exciting addition that was launched earlier this month and allows the app to automatically generate a list of nearby PayByPhone locations, to help drivers identify the spot they’ve parked in or discover new places to park.
Bournemouth Borough Council Councillor Mike Greene, Cabinet Member responsible for Transport, Cleansing & Waste, said; “We are pleased to make it easier for those using the PayByPhone service by removing the transaction fee. This will be more convenient for motorists while allowing the Council’s operations to be more efficient meaning less cost to deliver the service.”
Drivers have become accustomed to using the app since its launch in Bournemouth in 2016, with PayByPhone processing 60,000 parking transactions monthly. As a seaside resort town, visitors have also benefited from joining the service, contributing to the 6,000 new users who park with the service in Bournemouth each month.
